Abstract

In the meantime, Quiet Time is mainly centered on meditating the meaning of a passage in Korea Church. This way is helpful in our religious life. But, by doing this, the central ideas through the entire Bible are easily overlooked. In other words, there is a tendency to miss out God's thinking and heart to us through the whole Bible. To overcome these limitations, this study is focusing on understanding God's heart and thinking that runs throughout the Bible using the 'Tong' methodology. What is 'Tong'? Tong is the way to enrich overall perception as watching the parts and the whole at the same time. Dr. Zoh is the first to use that way. Tong is a synthesis of the Western Scripture reading system and the Eastern Bible reading system, diachronic way to read the Bible and synchronic way to read the Bible. It shows more clearly God's heart and thinking that runs throughout the Bible. This researcher led Bible study for young people for three years using 'Tong' methodology. And we found God's heart and thinking which had been overlooked before. So we read the Bible with one page per day for three years and analyzed the contents of contemplation on survey and interviews and recorded the meaning. This is the result of this study. Young men involved in this project understood the Bible as one story and more focused on God's heart and thinking in the story. In order to follow the will of God we have to know the overall flow of the Bible. And we must know God's heart and thinking in the overall flow of the Bible. The best way to know God's heart and thinking is to read the Bible and meditate on the Bible in the order of history for three years.
